P1120382

Hi there. Our little pizza monster is now 93 weeks old!
So good

At daycare, they have a play room called the village where the kids can go nuts with cars, ball pits, slides, fake stores and even a mailbox. Ava loves it in there as all the kids do…
Getting groceries

… until someone screams mine and the fun is over. Ava was upset that someone tried to steal ‘her’ car while she was in the ball pit.
Sad in the police car

And trying to explain to her that village time is over and it’s time to go home is no easy task, my friend.

On Saturday, we were down in LA again because our Airstream was ready. For real this time. Finally! Here is Deets surprising Ava through the screen door.
Come on in!

And just when she thought the day couldn’t get any better, Dora showed up. Ava is obsessed with this Dora doll. And when Ava comes to our bed in the morning to drink her milk, she makes sure that Dora is tucked under the blankets too… up to her chiny chin chin.
P1120438

Our first Airstream guests not only brought a Dora doll but a bottle of Happy Camper wine too. Thanks you two! You guys are making this thing feel like home.
Our first guests in the Airstream

Over the weekend Ava learned how to blow this…ummm… I just drew a blank. Horn thing? Birthday blowers? What the hell are they called? Beuller?
P1120467

Once again, it was cookie time with Nona. Ava loves decorating with sprinkles. I totally forgot that David’s nickname for Ava when she was younger was Sprinkles until Carrie mentioned it to me. How fitting!
P1120483

If you don’t pay really close attention, one cookie can get A LOT of sprinkles. I hope someone likes crunchy cookies because it’s Ava specialty.
P1120487

For the past couple weeks, Ava has begun climbing new things in the house. One day she just ended up on one of our dining room chairs all by herself. And whenever the tray of her highchair is in the sink to be washed, Ava darts for the highchair and tries to climb it like a monkey.
P1120503

On Sunday we were back home with the Airstream. Doesn’t she look pretty? Grace and the gang came over so we could… you guessed it… make cookies. It’s obviously Ava’s new thing. She loves it.
P1120530

But this time she got to decorate with frosting. Ava would not let me help her with the frosting because her methods were much better than mine. She didn’t need no stinkin’ spatula. She spread the frosting with her fingers, dipped her frosted fingers in sprinkles and then tried to put it on the cookies.
P1120536

When that method didn’t work, she ate the frosting and sprinkles off of her fingers and started over.
P1120540

For some reason, I don’t think she minds.

And viola! Here are her masterpiece cookies. Ava’s are the two on the top right.
Ava's cookies on the right. Grace's cookies on the left.

And later in the week when she got to enjoy one of her creations, what did she eat? Just the frosting and sprinkles. No cookie for her.
Just eating the frosting

At daycare, Ava is starting to visit the older kids room where her other friends, Ava R and Max, reside. She’s doing okay there and even took a nap there with her old pals. But back in her current room, she has made friends with Riley.

And I have a feeling that she doesn’t mind splitting her time between both classrooms since she has good friends in both.

Ava is growing so quick. Some of the 2T clothes she has are too small. Ahhh. And her socks? Way too small. So it was off to Old Navy for new socks. She fell in love with these plastic bracelets and a silver frilly skirt that she called ‘ballerina’. She kept asking me ‘kupiti?’ which means ‘to buy?’. Oh great. So I caved in and bought her one of the items. Just one. I had her choose and she chose the ballerina skirt.
P1120581

In the mornings, Ava is still insisting on bringing one of her possessions with her to school. I couldn’t get Ava to leave Dora at home the other day. She kept repeating ‘Dora walk?’. Okay. Dora walk.
P1120631

And then it progressed to ‘Dora trailer?’ No Ava. In a couple more days. Today is a school day.
P1120634

And when I asked if Dora could wait in the car until after school, she said ‘Dora walk’.
P1120640

As soon as she and Dora walked into her room, she squeezed Dora tightly and screamed mine! Mine! Mine! Mine! What a show off! Later that day I got a call from the school that Ava fell and got a bloody nose and a welt on her forehead. Oh oh. Did one of her ‘friends’ pay her back for the mine comments early that day? No, she ran too fast in the hallway and did a graceful face plant. Ouchie!
P1120641

Last night we made a trip to the dreaded Wal-mart, instead to our beloved Target. I hate that place. It is sooo crowded there all the time. It drives me batty. Anyways, Ava was riding in the grocery cart wearing a cute top, polka stockings and hot pink jean skirt. The jean skirt eventually rides up under her shirt and all that is left is her stockings. After a couple minutes of looking for Dora merchandise, Ava looks down at her legs and says ‘Oh oh. Ava nema gaće!’ which translates to her yelling ‘Oh oh. Ava has no pants on!’. I died laughing. After that we went to Rubio’s and instead of eating just beans, she ate a taco too. It was miracle. I asked them to put the chipotle sauce on the side since I didn’t know if would be too spicy for her. Ava didn’t like that one bit.

More chipotle. More more more.

Alright, it’s time to rest up. We got some trick or treating to do tonight. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
Good Night Ava

The San Pedro Water Fountains

Thursday, October 30th, 2008

Hi. I’m Ava and I get to check out the water fountains tonight.
P1120088

Are you sure Mama won’t get mad if I stick my hand in the water?
P1120077

Wow. This is fun!
P1120093

I thought there were supposed to be some fountains here. I don’t see any.
P1120099

Oh, there they are!
P1120101

The best part of the water show is definitely the music. Dance Dida, dance!
P1120105

Just my size

Wednesday, October 29th, 2008

Hi. I’m Ava and I can’t look at the camera right now. Trying… to… balance.
P1120134

Can you guess what I am doing here? No, I am not taking a dookie! I am trying to find the perfect pumpkin. This one is way heavier than it looks.
P1120136

And this one is way too big.
P1120131

And this one is a little too moldy looking.
P1120116

What do we have here?
P1120145

This one is just right… for me.
P1120151

Wind wind go away, come again another day…

Tuesday, October 28th, 2008

What are we doing here Mama? It’s. So. Windy.
IMG_0272

It’s making my head hurt…
IMG_0278

… and it’s too bright also.
IMG_0279

We are here for a hayride? These glasses don’t help much.
Love her face in this one

We are here to pose on pumpkins? I still think it’s too windy to be out here.
So windy

You’ll block some of the wind? Nah. I don’t think so. Still too windy.
Ava and Mama on a big pumpkin

We are here for a horsey ride? I guess I can tolerate the wind for a few more minutes.
Hi Dada. This is my horse Cowboy!

The pumpkin patch is next to a strawberry field? I heart strawberries. Wind smind. I love this place!
Ava's favorite part of the pumpin patch... strawberries!

Thursdays

Monday, October 27th, 2008

The three of us have a tradition on Thursdays. It’s our official night to eat out and window shop. We first start off at L&L Hawaiian BBQ where Ava whines for more and more pasta. That gets followed by a walk to the fish shop where we wave at all the colorful fishes and frogs and occasional sea horses. And then it’s straight to Target, aka where Dora lives, where we walk around the store screaming ‘Di si Dora?’ or ‘Where are you Dora?’ until we spot one of the hundred products she has in the store.

Ava is friends with a few people that work at L&L. She loves waving at a cat statue that sits near the soda fountain and dancing the hula with her Dada.
P1120325

We have implemented a no more new toys in our house policy. We are actually trying to sell half of the stuff we currently own to simplify our lives. So having a weekly window shopping spree after stuffing our faces is always in order. I know we aren’t going to be able to resist not buying her anything for her birthday or Christmas. There’s exceptions to every rule.
P1120328

Ava loves playing with these miniature animal statues. She likes trying to ride the mini horses like a giant, finding Diego’s baby jaguar, and scaring us with the great white shark while screaming Do Do Da.
P1120330

Oh look. More Dora merchandise. Surprise. Surprise.
P1120332

She is loving this bike. It might be something we can get for her birthday so she can practice pedaling. She still doesn’t get the concept that she doesn’t have ride it like she’s Fred Flintstone.
P1120333

I must tell you that I almost caved in and bought something during our window shopping spree. You see, I have this thing for little kids in rain boots. It’s cuter to me than a basket full of kittens.
P1120334

And when Ava asked me if I would wear a pair too, my heart almost melted. And no, I didn’t not buy them. I have rules. Stupid, stupid rules!
P1120336

Bunny ears

Sunday, October 26th, 2008

Hi. I’m Ava and I can’t open my eyes because the flash is too bright. Don’t laugh…
P1120204

… okay laugh.
P1120205

I wish I liked to sweep this much!

Saturday, October 25th, 2008

Dada, can you please sweep with me?
P1120269

What? Did you say YES?
P1120273

YEAH!
P1120271

SWEEPING ROCKS!
