27 months old!!
Hello! Our little burrito is now 27 months old!! YIPPEE!!!

And what was Ava doing just as she was turning 27 months old? Sleeping, of course. Here is her first picture as a 27 month old… trying to wake up from her afternoon nap.

On Friday, Ava had an Easter Party at school. When we got there, it had already begun (early!) with cupcakes, cookies and strawberries.

Dan and I were very excited to watch her hunt for eggs with all of her classmates but it was too late. They already had the hunt in the morning instead of at the party. Boo hoo.

At home, Ava was so excited to open each and every egg she had collected. This kid is more excited about opening the eggs than she is about eating the candy. (Thank goodness!) It was the first time she ever saw a Peep too. And when she held it her hand for the first time, did she want to eat it? Nope. She wanted to go outside with it… because she was under the impression that it was a stick of sidewalk chalk instead of candy. Hehe.

That did not happen. Don’t believe my Mama. I would never make a silly mistake like that. NEVER!

With all the dancing she did at Mickey’s wedding, Ava has been a little bit of a dancing machine at home. Here we are dancing to some James Taylor while he performed on The Oprah Show.

We spent Easter weekend down south at my parents’. Ava got a brand new high chair but decided to not eat as much as usual for some reason. I think her stomach was bothering her a bit. Because you know something is wrong with Ava when she refuses soup and strawberries!

So meal times were shorter and thus play times were longer. Here are Deets and Ava hiding under the Easter table, taking turns yelling ‘Get off of my land’ to anyone who got too close.

The last time Ava was at Grace’s house, she took a real liking to the fake bottles belonging to her baby doll. Realizing that Ava’s baby only had a stoller and no food, we ran to store so Ava could feed her starving baby.

She had just as much fun feeding the baby as she had feeding herself. Silly Ava.

On Saturday, Ava colored Easter eggs for the very first time. Here she is dunking her an egg for the very first time. An orange one. Orange you happy I said ‘for the very first time’ only twice in this paragraph?

And once the eggs were colored and decorated, Ava asked for more. Sorry Ava. All done.

On Saturday, Ava helped her Dida water the plants in the backyard. We must have refilled that little watering can twenty times. In the middle of the night, Ava woke up crying and complaining that her bottom hurt. So we brought her in bed with us for three long hours. She babbled, punched, kicked, etc until Dan finally placed her back into her bed so I could get some rest. But before he did, she looked at me and said ‘I love Mama. I love Dada. I love Nona. I love Yoda. I love outside… put water on dirt like Dida… and I love Baby’. How sweet is that. She did that for the VERY FIRST TIME.

So after a restless night, Ava finally laid an egg. In her diapers. On Easter. Very appropriate, I think.

And her appetite slowly started to return. Here she is eating a decent amount of soup with Nona Dinka.

Before we knew it, Easter was here. And Ava was so ready for the ‘party’. She had on a cute dress… and sparkly shoes that didn’t fit. But did she complain? Only if they fell off. What a real lady she has become. Wearing shoes that are too tight for the sake of their cuteness. Hehe.

You will have to wait for a special Easter post or two to find how the day went. But she did get this crazy doll in one of her Easter baskets. Let’s just say it’s the most annoying thing we’ve ever seen or heard. Dan wants to throw it in the trash. But did he?

Nope! Ava likes it too much. I guess our only choice now is to wait for the batteries to die out. Hopefully soon. I might have to post a video of this doll so you can feel our pain too.

We started to play soccer in the living room. Ava kicks the ball so much better than me. It’s pretty embarrassing. She refused to play the other day because we didn’t have jerseys. Can you believe that? Luckily we had a few jerseys from our trips to Croatia.

Also this week, Ava discovered a new spot to watch TV from in the living room.

She has designated all three of our couches as either the Dada Couch, Mama Couch or Yoda Couch.

I guess she decided to claim the ottoman as the Ava Couch before the baby shows up.

All right. It’s time to go and try to get Ava to potty… this sticker chart isn’t working as well as I was hoping it would. Bye!

wow, I haven’t been here in a while.
Ava’s gowing up so fast.
Pretty soon, she will have to do her own blogging.
Awesomeness.
You guys are a piece of home for me now.
X’s ‘n’ O’s to Marlene, Dan, Ava, Yoda, and the Bean.
